XP and Advancement

Earning Experience

Experience can be earned in No Direction Home in a few ways:

- Whenever you fail (roll 6 or less) a roll, mark experience.
- If you end the session with a lower Team stat than you started the session with, mark experience.
- At the end of the session, if the GM agrees that you acted on your Motivations, mark experience.
- Whenever a move tells you to mark experience, mark experience.

Experience is earned on a five-point track, usually represented with five ‘bubbles’. Whenever you mark experience, fill one of them in. When you mark your fifth experience, you erase them all (resetting to zero) and choose an advancement.
